Some of my favorite sightings of penguins and seals in Antarctica happened from the zodiaks. On land of course it was fun watching them waddle around and steal pebbles from each other (penguins), or sleep (seals), but from the zodiacs we saw more dynamic behavior.
We were driving by some ice when these two adélie penguins came flying out of the water and landed on the snow. They stood there for a second to survey their surroundings, before deciding we weren’t a threat and continuing on their travels.
The second photo is my favorite leopard seal photo of the trip. This one was lounging close to the edge of the ice, and the ocean was splashing up against the sides which created really cool scene. The seal lifted its head for just a moment, and I was able to capture this photo before it went back to resting. Never a dull moment in the Antarctic 🇦🇶
