Looking forward to the days of summer (less winter). 12 more minutes of daylight every day does make a difference. The long days of darkness are almost over and soon we won’t have any actual night time. Does the darkness get to us? Of course! How do we cope? Dunno.

From 2000 feet above, some rivers in Iceland look like an artist’s palette.

What this exactly is does not make a difference - but I hope that somehow you can still figure out what really does make a difference in life.

It’s never quite exactly like you see it because the moment wasn’t the seen with the same mind.

I had never seen this unique interplay of sediments and river flow before, even though I’d flown over the same spot hundreds of times before. I just love seeing how the rivers change with so many elements at play.

What ever happens, it just might take you on an adventure you didn’t expect. For me, the idea of spending a few days at a farmhouse by the arctic circle, was a remote one. But that happened, because of other stuff happening. And I’m happy that I made that decision. And I think the universe agreed with me when the skies started dancing around midnight, just after we had a power outage that lasted a few hours into the new year. I grabbed my phone to document it. You can’t always be happy with shit that happens, but when you decide to write the story of how you tackled it and take ownership of that story, inner peace is found. I sure hope that the blank pages of 2022 will be filled with great stories. Let’s start writing!

Flying with friends is almost as important as the rule of thirds in photography.

The inspiration to learn comes from the weirdest of sources. I was never really interested in geology before I started enjoying Iceland from above. Then, many ears back, I’m flying over the Vestmann islands, south of Iceland, with a geologist from Namibia and he turned to me and said: “You can’t even begin to fathom how new this lava is. I’m used to working with 14 billion year old rock, you see.” Little did he know the influence of our little discussion. After that, I started loving to learn about the ground I walk and fly over. And it’s still fun!
