Nothing can be more energising on a Monday morning than listening to the Vedas and mindfully breathing & enjoying a yoga practice. Today, it was the ‘Rigveda Shri Sukta’, it’s the “Sanskrit effect” neuroscientists say has a positive effect on the right hippocampus strengthening visual and verbal memory, powering me through the Ekpada Setubandh Sarvangasana, or the one-legged bridge pose. This combination works perfectly on the body and the mind alike. Practicing the yogasana stretches the spine, hip flexors, neck & thighs; stimulates abdominal organs & improves digestion; and reduces stress, fatigue, & anxiety. Reciting and even listening to “Mantras and Vedas” actually have a scientific effect on the brain and are undervalued. I’ve had a perfect start for the week ahead. A sibling bond is really special❤️🧿 Viaan realised it’s Daughter’s Day on 27th, Samisha’s first ‘Daughter’s Day’, so he wanted to celebrate (errr eat brownies) all week long 😂 These Gluten-free Chocolate Brownies were a part of the celebrations. The brownies were absolutely yum! Makes for a fantastic dessert when you are craving something sweet and healthy. You must try this one out at home. Such a beautiful analogy this video represents. Our lives are all about showing some kindness to one another, understanding each other, and opening the lines of communication. For me, the best time to practice yoga is early in the morning on an empty stomach⛅️ Limited pollution of all kinds allow you to breathe and centre your focus with ease. Focusing on yourself allows you to align your mind and body, thereby enhancing your body’s balancing abilities. So today, I practiced the Eka Padasana, or the one foot balancing pose. It works on the mind and body rather effectively. Not only does it improve balance, focus, & posture; but also strengthens the ankles & legs along with the shoulders & muscles of the back, while toning the abdomen. Like I always say, buss... It is very important to begin something with a clear mind and a positive attitude. It could be a new venture, a new task or a new day. The best way for me to start my day and week is with Yoga. But, one can’t keep doing the same routine week-on-week. So today, I practiced the Prasarita Padottanasana (A,B,C,D)and its variations. These asanas work predominantly on the lower body, strengthening the spine, core, and legs; but also calms the mind... stretching the hamstring, calves, and glutes. Along with all of these benefits, it also helps improve digestion and tones the abdominal muscles. Time: 7 am This is how my days begin now💪 Come rain or storm (was pretty windy) So glad we’ve got all this time... we all must take some time away from the hustle-bustle of life and just connect... with nature, with our surroundings, & with our inner selves. My morning routine gives me the strength and energy to tackle with the worst... Yoga has the power to instill calm and positivity in one’s being, the weather made it even more conducive. Today’s practice was Utkatasana and Ek Pada Utkatasana; while getting some much-needed fresh air. I particularly like this flow of asanas because not only do they strengthen & tone the lower body, but also improve balance & focus, while strengthening the lower back. This gives me a beautiful start to my day. The best way to make peace with any situation is to gradually adapt to the changes. So, after a 5-month hiatus, I shot for something special, an act for Ganesh Chaturthi as a humble dedication to all our frontline warriors. I wanted to do something special in my own way for the ones who have been working relentlessly to help curb the situation and restore normalcy with their best foot forward. So, all the necessary precautions were taken & all the guidelines met by the small team who made it happen. But, gotta say, I can't even begin to express how overwhelming it was to get back to it all - felt surreal. I sincerely hope & pray that our Vighnaharta, Lord Ganesh removes all the negativity, fear, and toxicity surrounding us. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. गणपति बप्पा मोर्या 🌺 It’s that time of the year and we’re all geared up to welcome Bappa into our homes this week🙏🏻 So, our recipe had to be something unique, sweet, and healthy. The Besan Coconut Barfi fits the bill perfectly! The celebrations all around us are subdued and sober in these times, but for everyone who wants to do something special while at home, do try out this recipe. It has no refined sugar and tastes just as good😍You can also shape them into modaks, and if you want to make them vegan you can use peanut/coconut oil. Time flies... it truly does! Felt a rather strong wave of nostalgia when I came across this footage @lehrentv , took me back two decades. Cannot believe it’s time to celebrate #20YearsOfDhadkan❤️🙏🏻✨🌈 feels so weird to hear myself speak from 20 years ago😂😂 So many memories come to mind... the trendsetting outfits by @manishmalhotra05 , the biting cold shooting in Interlaken (Switzerland) in those outfits😂🤣 My director, @dharmesh.darshan addressing me as Anjali on the sets😅 (never as Shilpa), this is undoubtedly one of the most special films and a huge milestone in my career. But, what I loved the most about the movie was its lilting music... timeless😍! Weirdly, even Akshay had said that this music is so melodious that it'll work even in 2020. Honestly, I can't believe that I'm still a part of this milieu celebrating this movie, it’s been such an incredible journey. The monsoon showers have been consistent, and it calls for something that’s simple, quick, & filling. This Simple Chicken Curry recipe was shot much before the lockdown was announced (pre-shot 6 months ago!), while I have chosen to accept vegetarianism completely. I didn't have the heart to waste this recipe... so before you jump to conclusions (I request you to not) all those who do eat and who subscribe to my channel... do try this simple dish at home, as it’s easy to make. If you’re a vegetarian or don’t eat chicken, you could replace the chicken with soya chunks, potatoes, and peas. If you have any better suggestions, please send it to us.
