Coming away from the demonstration at Waterlooplein yesterday, where we called ardently for Israel’s war in Gaza to stop, a friend said “It blows my mind, we just go back to daily life.”
And we did, sliding into the smaller worlds of child bedtimes and planning our working weeks. I ended the evening with a beer watching Wales and France play rugby.
All of us lead double lives these days. There and here. More and more winds blow to disorientate and dislocate. It’s hard to know where we are.
That’s why I’m collaborating with @vosnynke to head out to the land next November to set a different wind in motion – one that settles, re-locates, re-orientates. We’re heading to Drenthe to claim the simple act of being human on the land. We’ll bless the encounter with stories, rituals and good deal of open time.
The weekend is called Belonging.
It’s been said of this time, and said well, that the most radical act is one that is slow and full of care. So if such an opportunity speaks to you, please join us. We don’t expect the change the world, but to claim what is ours, and walk on with our humanity intact. A simple act of belonging to which none of us should ever feel uninvited.

HUNEBEDDEN

Welcoming embrace of the unknown
Dragon carcass
Death mouth
Heath teeth
Met these on the moors of Drenthe with @vosnynke
Swarthy sturdiness about them. Goats and deer nearby (latters prints in the photo).
Dreaming and planning a ritual, story and land listening weekend at the back of next year. Let your friends know.
