I’ve been working with @ekuleota since his season ended in January. He had never done Pilates before, but he’s always down for whatever I throw at him. What I love about working with all my athletes so much is that they bring a high level of body awareness and focus into each session. Football requires quick, dynamic moves. Pilates teaches the opposite. Learning how to control your body and slow it down is a unique form of power. The small details always matter. Both are built on mental presence and full-body strength. I love that Pilates can better prepare them as individuals for the unknown on the field, injury prevention, and career longevity. I’ve learned so much as a trainer working with athletes over the years from the NFL to professional ballet companies. There’s so much more to learn, and I can’t wait to make some moves on this later in the year. 🤓 *Everything sped up 1.5x

Flowing on 1 💛 this morning. Add 6-10 reps IRL. Light spring = no momentum & stability challenge⚡️ BK fam 🤍 look for this in mixed levels this week! Feeling grateful for an able body, full schedule and solid first month of 2024. January flies a little faster in the south. Excited for some new adventures next month. 💕

Campaigning inversions and spinal rolls for mental health. 🙃 I can’t explain it but iykyk. Cadillac free flow after my post-work workout. I’ve never tried a side plank hold like this but it happened today and I needed the reminder that new things show up when you do. It’s proof of and part of the process. 💥 Pilates is my playground. 🤸‍♀️

NEW YEAR HEADSPACE ☁️☁️☁️ Happy 2024! Welcome to the season of news outlets blasting all of the same advice we get fed every year. Eat healthier, detox your liver, and get back to the gym. It may all be rooted in good intentions, but the undertone of this news feels like guilt and unnecessary pressure. These goals we’re supposed to be making can feel shallow and empty. I can’t speak on everything but as a full-time fitness pro, I have developed my own philosophy around the industry. What’s worked for me and my best advice for ways to create a healthy relationship with your body as you reflect on the clean slate of a new year. 🖤 Find movement that you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be Pilates! It might take awhile, but it’s worth exploring and trying new things until something sticks. Because once you find it, you won’t want to live without it and the joy that it adds to your life. Your workouts then become an opportunity to enhance not only your physical body but your whole well-being and mental self. 🖤 Play the long game. We will always be marketed to by the healthcare and fitness industries. They want our dollars in the here and now. But what I want is to live a long, healthy life with an able body that allows me to enjoy new experiences, travel, and show up for my loved ones. The movement I’m able to do now I want to continue doing for the rest of my life. That may or may not become the case, but that brings me to my last tip. 🖤 Keep moving! Everyone’s path to well-being is different, but we know that physical health can’t be ignored. I’ve seen and heard it plenty working in the Pilates space, but it hurts my heart when I hear hyper-fixation on physical appearance goals that are temporary and have an unhealthy root. I know it’s a simple and general one, but just keep moving and give yourself some grace along the ride. Remember life itself is constantly in motion so we gotta be able to keep up in mind and body. If you’re reading this, I hope that 2024 is a year of positive movement experiences for you in whatever way that looks like. And I hope your time moving brings a feeling of encouragement to your life even if just for one hour of your day. ✨

Closed out 2023 in the mountains. Just letting the internet know that I’ve seen a ski village and there’s no going back. I am now @ndewire12 ’s protege and skiing is part of my personality. But honestly, I haven’t skied in 20+ years and I’m so grateful for this weekend and to have unlocked this source of happiness that I can’t wait to explore more. ❄️❄️❄️ happy new year and here’s to claiming our joy wherever we can find it. 🤍

TOP DOGS 2k23 🎧 and more more more that wouldn’t fit in this collage.🌹As exhausting as this year was, it was one of abundance in music and in my own life. This year felt very Gemini - fast-paced and all over the place. Music is one of the few things that helps me stay grounded, focused and as sane as I can feel which is why I love reflecting back in this way every year since before I graduated college. One of my fav holiday traditions and the gift that keeps on giving. Kali Uchis – Red Moon in Venus Don Toliver – Love Sick Carly Rae Jepsen – The Loveliest Time Icona Pop – Club Romantech Cannons – Heartbeat Highway Amaarae – Fountain Baby Kaytranada, Amine – Kaytramine Drake – For All The Dogs Doja Cat – Scarlet Daniel Caesar – Never Enough Caroline Polachek – Desire, I Want to Turn Into You Troye Sivan – Something to Give Each Other Lil Yachty – Let’s Start Here Kelela – Raven Tyler, the Creator – Call Me If You Get Lost Slayyyter – STARFU*KER

Hi 👋🏼 from my new studio home @bkpilatesclt . I’ll be teaching privates and group at both the South End and South Park locations. Not in Charlotte? You can also find me online if you’re interested in training with me virtually. 🖤 What am I focusing on now that I’m here? - Creating a website for booking with me - Creating a small virtual mat schedule for 2024 - TEACHING and working towards my goal of becoming a master instructor with @balanced_body which I can apply to in 2026 - Getting back into a regular personal Pilates practice - Trying to find balance between work and home as I plan for my future family Good things take time, and I try to always remember this as I want Pilates to be my lifelong career. I love what I do, and being here is an opportunity for me to change how I do it to better support me as a person. I’m trying to play the long game in a fast-paced world and as a Gemini, that’s quite challenging. Pilates is and will always be a business of relationships, which is why it was so hard to say goodbye to so many amazing clients in Indy. Even if we’re not working together regularly, just know that I’m always cheering you on from afar!! 🌟 I deeply appreciate the support that everyone has shown me throughout this transition. 🦋 Dance mom energy forever. 💘

🥲 THANK YOU to all of my clients (you know who you are) and anyone who has ever trained with me @erapilates_indy . I haven’t processed that this is goodbye, but just know that you are so special to me and bring me so much joy each week. I’m so grateful you trust me with your bodies & goals and that we get to share time together over something I love and believe in so much. I hope I’ve created a safe space for you to be vulnerable, to challenge yourself and to find strength from inside out. Movement was my first love and it’s because of you all that I now have a 4+ year Pilates career established as I move to Charlotte. I found my own voice through teaching, showed up when life was hard, and never quit because of your interest, dedication and love/hate relationship with Pilates. I will miss your smiles, your stories and your humor so much. 💕💕💕 Love you all!! 😘

Reformer plank flow with @rebeccaelayne 💫 This has been my favorite to teach lately. I remixed a few of the classics including: - Up stretch - Long stretch - Arabesque - Single leg knee stretch - Single leg elephant In certain parts of this flow, the biggest goal is to keep the carriage as still as possible while shifting your body weight. So much control required! I love deconstructing classical moves to create new challenges that keep the body guessing. 🙃
