Here it is! I’ve been working all day to isolate the best Geminid meteors in real time through 12 hours of continuous shooting (3 days). All recorded from Malangen, Norway 😍🤩☄️
I have just released an updated version of my short aurora chasing eBook. 14 pages where I answer all the basic questions of aurora chasing like what is the best place, when is the best time of year and of night, what tools and app should I use to track the aurora… lots of field tips and real-life examples! Link in bio and story ☺️
WOW crazy magenta aurora happening in the wake of the CME shock and sheath passage 2 nights ago in Kiruna, Sweden. Believe it or not, these crazy auroras are not directly created by the storm itself but by normal solar wind ahead of the storm, which ends up being compressed / disturbed like the snow pile in front of a snowplow! The storm itself had a bad magnetic orientation, which didn’t enable the Earth’s magnetic field to connect with it and so the storm didn’t transfer its full power / energy / plasma and very little aurora was created. This was actually predictable. If you want to learn how to try and predict, come join my monthly aurora chasing courses (link in bio).
WOW!! Look at what the passing shock and sheath of the current solar storm gave us last night above Kiruna, Sweden! One of the most spectacular auroras I have seen in my career 🥳🤩😍 well worth the 11-hour round trip to clear skies. That’s how lots of knowledge, patience, hard work, and a bit of luck can mean success when getting these crazy shows! If you want to learn the ins and the outs of predicting aurora and chasing it, become a full moon member now and / or participate in my online chasing course this April (link in bio and story).
Here are a few photos from last nights subtile and colorful aurora taken in Kilpisjarvi (Finland) and Skibotn (Norway). This solar storm underperformed a bit and the moon was strong but with every challenge comes opportunity! A beautiful moon halo appeared and everything was just like in a fairy tail 😍
