🎨 The Rolls Royce Holi has become a cherished tradition in Kolkata's Holi festival, reminiscent of Banaras' grand celebrations and signifying the advent of spring in the "City of Joy." Originally owned by Rudyard Kipling, the car was sold to Kumar Ganga Dhar Bangla in 1927 and transformed into a mobile temple, identified by its unique chassis number
#6UE . The Bagla family, its current custodians, also maintain the accompanying wooden chariots. Commencing from the Satyanarayan Jee Temple on Kalakar Street, the procession winds its way through Howrah Bridge and Burrabazar, culminating at the Shri Ishwar Satyanarayan Temple on Muktaram Kanoria Road on the 10th day of Fagun. The deities are briefly housed there before being returned for Holika Dahan. ✍️
✨ Being part of this holi celebration is a vibrant spectacle where a vintage car winds through the city's Howrah Bridge and streets, amid splashes of color from diverse religious revelers. Prayers are offered, and blessed foods exchanged, adding a sacred dimension to the festivities. This annual event epitomizes Kolkata's cultural richness, earning it the moniker "City of Joy." It unites people across religious divides, showcasing the city's ability to foster communal harmony 🖼️
