Great course with @adammeakins through @entropy_physio ! Getting important updates to the shoulder biomechanics we're taught in school, while confirming some of my biases! Stop blaming "tight" upper traps! #shouldercomplex #lifelonglearning #movementsciencemadesimple

Join me, @cprpilates and @laurakarpinski on Saturday, June 20th for a 90-minute class to benefit Feeding America! Registration link in bio. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Saturday, June 20th 10-11:30 AM (MDT) $25 This is a difficult time for the country and the world. While we have faced our own challenges, we feel lucky that we have each been able to move much of our work online, and that we continue to have an income during the pandemic. We feel even luckier that when so many people all over the world live a precarious day-to-day existence, we enjoy relative stability in our lives. The crisis is far from over. Our thoughts have turned to the many Americans who struggle to feed themselves and their families in the best of times, and are facing further hardship in the wake of the coronavirus. We want to do something to help! All of the proceeds from this class will be donated to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, and will be matched by an equal donation from Movement Science Made Simple. This 90-minute Zoom class will emphasize the smart movement sequences Movement Science Made Simple are known for, while providing a fun workout and an opportunity to connect virtually with other teachers around the country and the world.

Sorry to hear that in addition to worrying about my own "text neck," I now need to police my cat's posture and consider food bowl ergonomics! smh #posturepolice #freethekitty #adaptability #movementsciencemadesimple

Join @cprpilates and me for a 2-hour webinar looking at updating old-fashioned ideas about posture! (Link in bio) ********************************** Posture, Pain, and Performance With Jeremy Laverdure and Cara Reeser Friday 4/24 11 am MDT $35 For fitness and rehab professionals, including Pilates teachers, it seems intuitively correct that better posture results in less pain and better physical performance. But the research indicates that some of our inherited notions about “good” posture might be outdated. In this 2-hour webinar, we’ll look at what constitutes a “normal” balance among the sagittal spinal curves and examine established paradigms such as Janda’s “upper crossed” and “lower crossed” syndromes. We’ll consider posture in the context of neck and back pain. We’ll think about places in the Pilates repertoire where certain postural styles are at a disadvantage. And we’ll sort through our received ideas about posture and figure out what to keep and what to let go of.

"ONE thing you wish you had known early in your career to help better sustain your practice," a prompt from @jarednkaplan for his #talkthetalktuesday with @pilatesanytimeus 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I have made so many missteps that could have been avoided if I had asked some more experienced person for advice, paid an expert for their time, or gotten a second opinion. I don't know if it is something I was born with, a holdover from my upbringing, or what, but I've tended to make decisions without consulting anyone, on matters ranging from what school to attend to how to structure my business. A LOT of $$$ and 🕐🕐🕐 could have been saved if I had sought qualified advice! Fortunately, in my 40's I'm finally learning!
