The Leadership of the Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) in wishing its Global family (members ) a Happy New Year says the “Best is yet to come “ More importantly as President I remain optimistic ( our CKF Executive board incl ) that we will score the goals we set during 2022 esp. since the hosting of our “Biggest & Best” Commonwealth Karate Nations championships (ever ) Birmingham 2022
COMMONWEALTH GAMES ENGLAND SUPPORTS THE CKF’S SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION FOR CGF SANCTIONING!
Last month the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) sanctioned the Commonwealth Karate Championships following a lengthy application process that was supported by Commonwealth Games England and the World Karate Federation.
This exciting news permits two subtle, yet significant, changes in branding -
Firstly, going forward, the elite event will be formally known as the ‘Commonwealth Karate Championships 2022’ to align with the CGF policies. (The club championships will retain 2020 in its title acknowledging the year in which it was originally scheduled, as per Tokyo 2020.)
Secondly, the CGF have approved the use of the official ‘Commonwealth Sport’ logo on the elite medal. This is a great milestone! It demonstrates the CKF’s commitment to pursue the ambition of full Commonwealth Games inclusion, and the confidence of the CGF in the legacy of the Commonwealth Karate Championships.
As a result of this momentous achievement, we look forward to welcoming Mr Antonio Espinós, President of the WKF, and Prof. Geoff Thompson MBE DL, Deputy Chair of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, so once again we call upon all CKF nations to support this important showcase event.
Please share this great news with your delegations and friends.
