Have you ever been to a children's easter egg hunt...or should I say free-for-all? There are distinct memories of standing in a giant circle with hundreds of eggs staring me in the face at our local neighborhood park. As soon as the whistle blew, it was a mad dash to go grab as many of the eggs as possible, regardless of what, or whom, got in the way! You sometimes got a lot of plastic eggs, but they didn't always have what you like in them. You ran blindly to just get whatever you could. Sometimes it feels that way in marketing, right? It feels like an all-out war to go as fast and frantically as possible to catch the next lead. But, there's nothing worse than wasting your time on a discovery call with someone and realizing that they weren't the right lead for your business. Instead, if you focused on qualifying them with your marketing strategy, you could save yourself (and them) a ton of time and effort. One of the things we like to think through is if a digital strategy is helping you reach the right people. For example, TikTok might feel cool and sexy, but if your ideal customer is really over on LinkedIn, you may need to refocus your approach. Qualifying doesn't require a 20-step, full-day seminar to figure things out, but it does take thoughtful steps in how and where you focus your attention. This springtime season, go look for the right eggs instead of just scooping up a huge quantity of plastic eggs full of Smarties (yuck!).

Red lines and comments... Whenever we're working with a new client, we know to look for the red lines and the comments. And we anticipate it. It's literally a point in the kickoff conversation where we talk about the fact that the first few weeks or first few deliverables will probably have a lot of feedback and comments. In fact, we want that. Why? Because that helps us get to know their voice, tone, and perspective better. The more we know upfront, the better we can create content, social media, and marketing materials for their brand. That's a vital point in the working relationship for us to learn all the ins and outs of who they are and how they prefer to show up in the world. #socialmedia #contentmarketing #blogging

It all started 5 years ago... Five years ago my book came out. Five years ago I became a multi-bestseller and #1 release. Five years ago changed my business in an unexpected way. I wrote the book largely to put pen to paper all of the things I would tell my digital marketing and social media clients. I love creating content and a book feels like one of the more ultimate types of content you can make. I worked as hard on the book itself as I did on the LAUNCH of the book. It makes sense. The marketing of a marketing book should be strategic, right? But then something interesting happened. People noticed what I did with my book launch. And they started asking me questions. They started asking if I'd help them launch their book. They started asking if I'd help them navigate the self-publishing process and create a marketing strategy around their book. In the past five years, I've lost count of how many authors I've helped successfully launch bestselling books with stellar reviews and sales. This year we've already managed two multi-bestsellers and have another one coming up next week! If you are working on a book, or know someone who is, know this: I'm passionate about helping others navigate an often confusing process to launch their book. P.S. "My high schooler knows how to use social media, so we're just going to do it ourselves."
