Nothing can be more energising on a Monday morning than listening to the Vedas and mindfully breathing & enjoying a yoga practice. Today, it was the ‘Rigveda Shri Sukta’, it’s the “Sanskrit effect” neuroscientists say has a positive effect on the right hippocampus strengthening visual and verbal memory, powering me through the Ekpada Setubandh Sarvangasana, or the one-legged bridge pose. This combination works perfectly on the body and the mind alike. Practicing the yogasana stretches the spine, hip flexors, neck & thighs; stimulates abdominal organs & improves digestion; and reduces stress, fatigue, & anxiety. Reciting and even listening to “Mantras and Vedas” actually have a scientific effect on the brain and are undervalued. I’ve had a perfect start for the week ahead. A sibling bond is really special❤️🧿 Viaan realised it’s Daughter’s Day on 27th, Samisha’s first ‘Daughter’s Day’, so he wanted to celebrate (errr eat brownies) all week long 😂 These Gluten-free Chocolate Brownies were a part of the celebrations. The brownies were absolutely yum! Makes for a fantastic dessert when you are craving something sweet and healthy. You must try this one out at home. Such a beautiful analogy this video represents. Our lives are all about showing some kindness to one another, understanding each other, and opening the lines of communication. For me, the best time to practice yoga is early in the morning on an empty stomach⛅️ Limited pollution of all kinds allow you to breathe and centre your focus with ease. Focusing on yourself allows you to align your mind and body, thereby enhancing your body’s balancing abilities. So today, I practiced the Eka Padasana, or the one foot balancing pose. It works on the mind and body rather effectively. Not only does it improve balance, focus, & posture; but also strengthens the ankles & legs along with the shoulders & muscles of the back, while toning the abdomen. Like I always say, buss... As we all know, the Ozone layer is a part of the Earth’s Stratosphere responsible for absorbing most of the UV rays emitted by the Sun. It is the shield 🛡 protecting the Earth and the life on it. When we abuse the natural and man-made resources available to us, we end up damaging the ozone layer. Saving our planet from the adverse effects of our own actions is our responsibility. While a part of the ozone layer has been healing because we’re all indoors, we still have a long way to go. The food we put into our body is actually more important than the physical activity we put our bodies through. It’s a 70:30 ratio; 70 percent being food choices. Eat freshly made, simple, easily digestible - as opposed to heavy / canned / preservative-laden / extra spicy & processed foods, which are harmful for the body & the mind. Also, train your body and mind to eat food in moderate portions at regular intervals instead of eating large portions of food at once or skipping meals altogether. Smaller meals help in satisfying the appetite, stabilizing blood sugar levels, and providing nutrients to the body throughout the day.
